“She believed she could, so she did.” ~ Unknown

One of my favorite quotes and one that I keep hanging on my bedroom wall to remind me that I can do anything! The trick is just to believe in myself and oh yeah, STOP BEING SO DAMN LAZY!

So here I am.  After years of thinking about it and procrasting, I am finally starting a blog.   I believe! I believe!  Hallelujah, I believe!

Whew! Now let us see where this new journey takes me.

Single mommingly yours, M.

  1. It’s not so much that the way one makes decisions change, it’s that decisions are now automatically made. You no longer have to think about whether you will go to work, stay out all night, ignore the mortgage bill, etc., Your mindset has changed and you have accepted the responsibility that comes with DECIDING to have a baby. Some people just HAVE babies and they go on pretending that nothing much has changed. But you made a mature, rational decision — you DECIDED to have Mason and you acdepted all the challenges that have come and will come as a result of that decision. You, like the rest of us, don’t know what life has in store, but you have the mindset to be able to take on all challenges without having to DECIDE. I wish you good luck. Mason is lucky to have such a loving mommingly mom who will hold his hands and love him forever.

  2. Thank you, Claire. And thank you for taking the time to read my post. You definitely make a great point and it makes me think you’re right. Maybe I don’t have choices anymore since they’re “automatically made.” These are just the things I have do as a parent.

I think that it is great you have this. Women feel that they need a man when it comes to having kids and I guess in some ways you do ;). I was a single mother for three years at age 17 and again at age 23 with three boys depending on me. I did it! It was very hard but it was great too. I had good times with them and I wouldn’t change it. I am married now but the bond my three oldest sons and I have is special to us because we went through hard times together. We speak to each other without really talking. Don’t get me wrong I love all my FIVE boys the same I just think I was more a friend to them as they were to me in my hardest days. I look up to you and personally think it’s great! God Bless you guys!

    • Thank you so much for your comments, Iliana. It really means alot to me. And I completely understand what you mean by the bond you have with your three oldest boys. I’ve heard raising a child on your own is a difficult task. I’ve only begun my journey. Lord only knows what is in store for me…but you know what? I’m ready. This was a life decision I made and I am ready to take it on in full force. With the help and advisement of seasoned moms like yourself, I know I will be able to do it. Please keep reading and feel free to offer opinions and suggestions as much as you’d like. I need all the help I can get. I’ve only started this blog, but I hope to develop it in such a way that there is a special section for moms to post their own ideas, suggestions and comments to me publicly. I look forward to hearing more from you, my friend. 😉

  4. Michelle I commend you for making such a life changing decision as having a child on your own. It’s not the day to day things that will be tough for you. For me it was trying to be both a mom and dad. I gave my son all the basic needs but always worried about his thoughts about his dad. And where and why he wasn’t around. My son never asked me about him because he thought it would hurt my feelings. I grew up so fast and had many challenges, but I thank god everyday for my miracle. God bless.
